Career Progression Stories: Meghan Joyce

At 1625, we are passionately dedicated to fostering the growth and development of our colleagues, empowering them to excel in their careers. Explore Meghan Joyce’s journey in our latest instalment of ‘Career Progression Stories.’

“In 2018, the ‘Reboot West Operations Manager’ role at 1625 aligned perfectly with my experience and was a great opportunity to move to Bristol.

Seven years later, I’m still here!

1625 has supported my professional growth by harnessing my strengths in idea development and project management, driving ambitious programmes forward.

Through my work on Reboot West, I became passionate about using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to drive sustainable change in young people. 1625 connected me with experts to develop a youth worker toolkit and training package, which was sold nationally and internationally.

With Reboot West well established, 1625 created a new role for me to lead the first-ever evaluation of youth support in this way, collaborating with organisations like Youth Futures Foundation and Behavioural Insights Team. I couldn’t have been prouder to be part of a project providing research to demonstrate that through specific approaches, vulnerable young people are empowered to thrive.

When the evaluation was completed, 1625 supported me in exploring new opportunities, leading to my current role helping merge the ‘Youth Education Service’ with 1625.

My journey reflects the trust and responsibility 1625 has invested in me, and it’s hard to imagine leaving!”

What does it really mean to partner with a charity?  For the organisations we work with at 1625 Independent People, it goes far beyond fundraising. It’s about shared purpose, real human connection, and creating lasting change for young people facing homelessness.  Through our Stronger Together campaign, we spoke to five of our incredible corporate partners to understand what these partnerships look like in practice, and why they […]

For Neurodiversity Celebration Week, we asked young people connected to 1625 Independent People to share what being neurodivergent means to them.  Neurodiversity recognises that people experience and interact with the world in different ways. For many young people, it can shape how they learn, communicate, manage everyday tasks, and understand themselves.  Through their reflections, young people […]
