As an organisation committed to the development of young people, we want to have young people on our Board of Trustees. We are keen to involve people whose life experiences resonate with the community we serve, whether this is personal experience of homelessness or other challenges similar to those faced by the young people in our services. Your place on the Board will help to bring a fresh perspective and insights alongside that of existing Trustees.
About the Role
As a Trustee, you will use your experience, knowledge and skills to work collaboratively with the organisation’s executive team to achieve the highest standards of services throughout 1625ip. Your robust and thorough approach will help 1625ip have maximum impact and build resilience.
An existing Trustee will provide mentoring support to the 2 successful applicants, throughout the process. This will involve:
- Pre- applications chats to find out more
- Help with the application
- The opportunity to observe 2/3 Board meetings/committee meetings with your mentor before deciding to proceed
- 1:1 meetings with your mentor in advance of trustee meetings to go through paperwork plus de-brief meetings afterwards
- Help from your mentor to go through sign up information and paperwork
- Ongoing support once you have joined the Board
Your mentor may also be able to offer you advice on other aspects of your life such as career options but this will be for you and them to agree.
There are 6 meetings a year, possibly 2-4 additional committee meetings a year, an away day and several events with young people who use our services. The events are optional but are very informative and fun.
