Members of the board.

Board Member

13th March 2023

Are you looking for a way to give back to the community and use your experience and skills to support a charity?

If you have a passion to tackle youth homelessness and support young people to be independent and see the next generation thrive, 1625 Independent People would love to hear from you.

We are committed to creating a more diverse Board that represents the
young people we serve and particularly welcome applicants from groups
where representation is lower; this currently would include Black/Black British and Muslim candidates as they are currently under-represented in our organisation. We also encourage applications from people with relevant lived experience.

Please find full details of how to apply here. The deadline for application
submissions is 23:59, Tuesday 18 April 2023.

Board Member Opportunity (Voluntary) – Finance

What we are looking for
We are looking for someone with a background in finance and ideally experience of project and/or management accounting to strengthen the Board and work alongside the Treasurer. 2023 sets to be a challenging year with the current cost-of-living crisis and we are looking for someone to expand our governance skills in finance. Your robust and thorough approach will help 1625ip have maximum impact and build resilience.

What you’ll be doing
As a Board Member, you will use your skills, knowledge and experience to work collaboratively with the organisation’s Executive team to achieve the highest standards of operational performance throughout 1625ip. You will have the opportunity to be involved in the exciting new National Lottery Heritage Project, combining your experience whilst collaborating with other Board Members, colleagues and young people.

Reflections from our Queer Peer Support Group  At 1625 Independent People, our monthly Queer Peer Support sessions create space for LGBTQ+ young people to come together, connect, and simply be themselves.  Sometimes that looks like deep conversations about identity and belonging. What does it really mean to partner with a charity?  For the organisations we work with at 1625 Independent People, it goes far beyond fundraising. It’s about shared purpose, real human connection, and creating lasting change for young people facing homelessness.  Through our Stronger Together campaign, we spoke to five of our incredible corporate partners to understand what these partnerships look like in practice, and why they […]

For Neurodiversity Celebration Week, we asked young people connected to 1625 Independent People to share what being neurodivergent means to them.  Neurodiversity recognises that people experience and interact with the world in different ways. For many young people, it can shape how they learn, communicate, manage everyday tasks, and understand themselves.  Through their reflections, young people […]
