Not everyone goes home for Christmas

29th November 2022
Christmas can be a really difficult time for many, and there are currently 120,000 young people in the UK facing homelessness.

Family breakdown is the most common reason for a young person to be at risk of homelessness, so Christmas can be a really difficult and isolating time of year.

On behalf of the 1,600 young people currently accessing our services, we’re asking you this Giving Tuesday to donate whatever you can to support our cause.

Your donation will mean we can continue to work with Young People aged 16-25 to provide accommodation as well as practical and emotional support, ensuring vulnerable YP can build healthy relationships, develop skills and access jobs and training.

The smallest donations can mean so much to a young person going through a difficult time.

  • £6 is enough for a young person to go swimming, this could be a real help for a young person experiencing poor mental health.
  • £18 pays for ingredients for a cooking session for 4 young people to make a big step towards feeling confident to live alone.

You can donate here.

What does it really mean to partner with a charity?  For the organisations we work with at 1625 Independent People, it goes far beyond fundraising. It’s about shared purpose, real human connection, and creating lasting change for young people facing homelessness.  Through our Stronger Together campaign, we spoke to five of our incredible corporate partners to understand what these partnerships look like in practice, and why they […]

For Neurodiversity Celebration Week, we asked young people connected to 1625 Independent People to share what being neurodivergent means to them.  Neurodiversity recognises that people experience and interact with the world in different ways. For many young people, it can shape how they learn, communicate, manage everyday tasks, and understand themselves.  Through their reflections, young people […]
