Volunteer at 1625 Independent People
1625 Independent People supports 16 to 25 year olds who have faced or are facing homelessness in the South West. We house and support young people to build independent lives.
Our aim is to make sure everyone gets something out of your volunteering experience; you, us and the people we support.
Volunteer Researcher role x 2 (Aged 18+)
The role:
Working with the 1625 Heritage Project archives, volunteer researchers will collate and present key themes and findings to a small group of young people and volunteers who are creating heritage themed podcasts about key events in the history of Kingsley Hall.
- Researchers will be expected to volunteer remotely, conducting research independently.
- Research needed to collate archive materials for heritage project.
- Research team will work together to create accessible and appealing summaries of the key research themes.
- Researchers will be supported by the Heritage team.
- Researchers to present findings and materials in person to other volunteers and participants as part of Oral History Project workshops.
Key skills:
- Research/history skills.
- Experience/interest using online archives.
- Presentation skills for workshops- although enthusiasm is more important!
- Good communication skills.
- Capacity to offer approx 3 – 4 hours weekly for a 6 – 8 week period in July and August (specific dates TBC)
- Ability to work pro-actively and independently.
We offer:
- Induction and regular support.
- Materials and equipment as needed
- Local travel costs to Bristol to present findings to groups.
