Bristol Youth MAPS is 1625 Independent People’s first port of call for a young person who is homeless or at risk of homelessness
Covid-19 Notice
Bristol Youth MAPS is OPEN and continuing to support young people.
During this time, we will often conduct our initial meeting by phone. However, if you do not have access to a phone, we will arrange for you to attend appointments with us at the office. On arrival at the office we will ask you to wash your hands and maintain a 2m distance from others. If we allocate you a support worker we will be available to meet you safely in person or over the phone, video call etc. We will take into consideration your needs and preferences regarding this.
You can contact us on 0117 332 7111 or 0800 035 4213 (free) if you have any questions.

What we do
Bristol Youth MAPS supports young people with accommodation issues; sometimes relationships break down or a big life event can mean a young person is asked to move out. This can be scary and difficult to navigate, as well as dangerous. Where possible we help to mediate with young people and their families to see if we can prevent them becoming homeless or enable them to return home. If it is safe, home is usually the best option for a young person until they can move out in a planned way. We also support young people to find accommodation when it’s not safe or possible to return home.
Who we are
We are a multi-agency team including staff from 1625ip, Housing Advisors and a Social Worker from Bristol City Council. The mix in skills and responsibilities means we can make the best plan for our young people to make a way forward.
How we work
Bristol Youth MAPS supports in these ways:
Mediation – helping young people and their families to talk things through and find solutions.
Assessment – working out what young people need to prepare for independence and having a safe place to live.
Prevention – intervening early to prevent young people from becoming homeless.
Support – helping young people to develop positive relationships and progress on their journey to learning, employment and living independently.
NOTE: if you have a social worker or personal advisor, MAPS is able to work directly with your worker
Need us?
If you are a young person aged between 16-21: please fill out this online form.
If you are a young person aged between 22-24: please note we can only work with you/they if you have significant support needs which mean they are unlikely to be able to successfully engage with an adult focused service.
