Sleep Out Volunteer

We would love someone to support us to plan and organise this fantastic fundraising event. We are looking for someone with event experience, who has excellent personable skills and is keen to help us make this the best 1625ip Sleep Out ever!

We offer

  • Travel expenses (including mileage where needed), lunch (if volunteering for a full day), free tea/coffees at offices (however, this work will mainly be done from your home)

  • References for future employment (after six months of volunteering)


Role Description
Sleep Out is our biggest fundraising event of the year. In 2019 it raised £80,000. We need an enthusiastic events volunteer to help the Fundraising and Comms team make this the best Sleep Out in the history of 1625 Independent People!


Main duties include

Duties leading up to the event (now until October)

  • Working with the Fundraising and Comms team to help them plan Sleep Out
  • Helping to source materials for the night (fundraising prizes, alcohol)
  • Working with Fundraising and Comms team to talk to suppliers at the event
  • Coming up with fun and inventive ways to get people signed up to Sleep Out
  • Attending some of our Sleep Out meetings


On the day and night of Sleep Out (Thursday 21st October, at Lloyds Amphitheatre)

  • Helping the team pick up any items needed
  • Helping to set up the Amphitheatre (fencing, stage, bar)
  • Knowing the plan of the day to allow suppliers on site
  • Helping with tasks on the night (ticket entry, working on the bar, coatcheck etc)


Key skills required

  • Good personable skills to talk to suppliers and supporters
  • Some events experience
  • Some experience in fundraising or attended a fundraising event
  • Able to work as part of a team


When and where

Leading up to Sleep Out you can work from home, but there may be a few in-person meetings leading up to the event. Sleep Out will be at Lloyds Amphitheatre in Bristol on October 21st.



We assume this would be 1 day a week (at most) and can be spread over a week, or done in 1 day
