The support was “better than helpful!”
What was life like for you when you first came to 1625ip?
My PA was going on maternity leave and knew that I was struggling with college work and home life as well. My confidence was low and I didn’t have much motivation. I was having a hard time looking after my mum who had mental ill health and also with my Dad, my PA knew I wanted help with confidence and career, my PA then suggested I work with Emma from Reboot to help with career and finding balance, and trying to take my mind off of everything.
How did 1625ip support you?
I started working with Emma from Reboot West, we explored different options for me, I didn’t want to go to college and I didn’t feel ready to start work because of my confidence and because of my anxiety and medication. We found a volunteering role together but I applied independently and emailed the placement myself; then Covid- 19 stopped that. Emma then helped me engage with what I love the most, which is song writing. We found a project through Trinity Centre for me to engage with a song writing tutor online. First we did the sessions together and Emma was in the Zoom meeting with me because I was anxious, after a while I was able to do the meetings alone. I was confident with my anxiety, it helped me to speak to someone new, I am able to open up to her, this is good as I had a lot of trust issues. It also helps with the song writing skills and believing I am getting better and able to stop being so hard on myself.
What are your plans for the future?
I am looking at doing some courses online, through Twitch I have realised that I enjoy supporting others and being involved with a community online, and bringing a smile to other peoples faces. I want to be able to move out of my parents and travel the world. I would like to be an influencer and support people from the age of 16 who have issues. Everything I do with Emma will be to interact with other people and continue to build my confidence.
