About the role

We ask for participation in fortnightly 1hr sessions plus extra meetings. 

The role:

We need passionate young volunteers (aged 16 - 25) who have experienced homelessness, supported housing or the care system to volunteer as part of our Youth Board. 

Youth Board representatives work alongside our Participation team and are managed by our Participation Worker.  Part of the role is to contribute directly to service development, utilising personal experience and consultation with other young people.

The Youth Board work with 1625ip service users and staff at all levels, from Board members and senior managers to support staff, giving them a strong presence in the organisation as representatives of the young people we support.
Youth Board roles are based at our head office -  Kingsley Hall, 59 Old Market Street, Bristol, BS2 0ER.

We are looking for volunteers who can commit to fortnightly 1 hour sessions.  You would also need to attend a 2 hour Inform meeting every six months and occasional meetings around needs of group (this can be flexible around other commitments).

Key skills:

  • A passionate advocate for other young people in service.
  • Willing to actively participate in, and commit to, meetings as required. 
  • Happy to attend public events.
  • Punctual, reliable and enthusiastic.
  • Analyse, write and conduct surveys.

We offer:

  • Peer Support training package with AQA accreditation.
  • Full induction, regular support and supervision.
  • Materials and equipment.
  • References for future employment (after 6 months of volunteering).
  • Opportunities to gain experience in skills relevant to careers such as teaching, youth work, support work, etc.
