Reboot West Youth Space Volunteer

Who are we

Independent People supports 16 to 25 year olds who have faced or are facing homelessness in the South West. We house and support young people to build independent lives.
All our Volunteers are looked after as part of the VIP scheme.
Our aim is to make sure everyone gets something out of your volunteering experience; you, us and the people we support.
Because we think we’re all VIPs.


1 Day per week – Mondays 2 - 4pm

 

The role:

• Based at the YMCA in Weston-Super-Mare.
• The Reboot West Youth Space Volunteer will help provide a safe and welcoming space for young people accessing the YMCA.
• The volunteer will help with setting up and facilitating/participating in activities with young people e.g. table tennis, games, cooking, CV writing and job searches.
• The volunteer will be working with and supervised by a Reboot West Coach, and they will also be working alongside YMCA staff who run the community space.
 

Key skills:

• Ability to work alongside young people
• Energetic, warm and friendly approach
• Creative and enthusiastic in helping to develop a community
• Suitable for someone looking to gain experience in Youth Work
• Capacity to volunteer Mondays 2 - 4pm in Weston-Super-Mare and ability to commit for at least 6 months
 

We offer:

• Travel expenses (inc. mileage where needed), free tea/coffees at offices etc…
• Access to training
• Full induction, regular support and supervision
• Materials and equipment
• References for future employment (after six months of volunteering)
