Sleep Out 2020


We are so excited to announce that from today you can register to join 1625ip’s Sleep Out 2020!

It will take place on Friday 6th November in the evening (and all night!)
It will look at bit different this year. We can’t all be together, but it will feel as though we are – read on below!
Young people will be heading into winter with reduced support as so many services are unable to deliver, or have been cut. There are fewer job opportunities, the pandemic’s economic impact is hitting young people the hardest of all age groups. This November, young people will experience increased anxiety about where they will be spending the nights during the colder months. For them, there is no light at the end of the tunnel. 
Coronavirus has been difficult for everyone, but for young people, the future is very uncertain. We need support from you and your communities more than ever before.

JOIN IN to our virtual entertainment on the night
Community fun: At 1625ip, we are all about community. You may have got closer to your neighbour and others on your street over the last few months. Get them involved and make it a night to look forward to in small groups of neighbours (following government guidelines on numbers).
Team building: You can make this a team effort with your colleagues, community group and friends (from across the country!), either in person or in separate locations. You can fundraise as a team, and bond together whilst supporting young people!
A challenge for everyone: This is a fundraising challenge, but you can make it your challenge. It will be colder in November, so please only sleep outside if this is safe for you. If you have a family with young children, you can build a cardboard shelter in the living room!

How do I fundraise?
Fundraising happens through Enthuse. When you sign up, we will send you a tailored fundraising pack to help you best utilise your fundraising efforts.
For more tips, join the Sleep Out event Facebook page. You can connect with others taking part in the challenge and share a photo of where you will be sleeping out!
How much do I need to fundraise?
We encourage you to fundraise as much as you can, with last year’s attendees raising between £100-£2,000. As a charity, we rely on the support we receive from fantastic supporters like you, especially after the shortage of fundraising opportunities this year.
Where does the money go?
Your fundraising means we can continue to deliver expert support to young people by:

  • providing secure homes,
  • teaching life-skills,
  • offering advice,
  • helping them access training and careers,
  • providing general support.
Most importantly, we help young people build healthy relationships and aspire to live happily and independently. Read Katie's story here. 
Who can sign up to sleep Out

  • You may have got closer to your neighbour and others on your street over the last few months. Get them involved and make it a night to look forward to in small groups of neighbours (following government guidelines on numbers).
  • Either nominate yourself as the chosen participant from your workplace or get others in your work to sign up too! We will be sure to show our appreciation for your business if you sign up as their Sleep Out representative!
  • Are you part of a club? Enjoy some team building in a novel way, by signing up your club or community group together and fundraising as a team.
  • Make it a family affair! Whether you are bundled in a tent or make a family fortress outside. You can join with friends and family around the country!
  • Get competitive with friends – who can commit to the most creative and challenging place to sleep?
  • Do you have children? The event will be some fun to look forward to in November, and a chance for children to learn about homelessness.
What is happening on the night
Tune into the entertainment from around 7 pm – 10 pm.

  • A comedy show
  • Virtual talks with 1625ip colleagues and young people
  • A bedtime story
  • The chance to win some prizes (fundraising prizes)
  • A 30-minute morning yoga class
  • We will connect you up with some fantastic takeaway choices to order on the night.

Where do I Sleep Out?
There are so many places you could sleep on the night (in line with government guidelines). Get creative! Here are some examples:

  • In your car
  • In a tent in the garden

  • On the trampoline
  • You can swap beds with the dog for the night
