Cashpoint Community Awards are GO!

Wednesday 28 January 2015

Grants of up to £5000 are available for organisations who work with young social housing tenants on improving their financial confidence.

Great news as we launch the Cashpoint Community Awards!

Local organisations who work with young social housing tenants can help them improve their financial confidence with a grant from the Big Lottery funded Cashpoint project.

There are two types of award available; Community Project and Peer Money Mentoring and you can apply for between £500 and £5,000.

This is a great way for local organisations to access funds and deliver exciting projects around money skills.

Community Projects

We're not talking classroom style here. For example  - Independent People run a Football Club IPFC, the young people who play also help manage the club, the budget, collecting subs and deciding what to spend the subs on. There are several skills there - all of which can be applied to their own life.

Learning about money does not have to be boring, we can help develop ideas and find ways of framing the money skills around things that young people are interested in.

Peer Money Mentors

The Peer Money Mentor grant gives an organisation the chance to identify a young person / people who are good with money and want to act as mentors to other young people. They will get a dedicated Cashpoint Worker and the money can pay for training, which means the both mentor and mentee are gaining skills.

Pilar Garcia, 1625ip Funding Manager said

"It's great to be able to work with other youth services and deliver even more money skills work. They say young people are hard to reach - which is true if you're hoping to reach them while sat in your office. But we know you have to get out there and find them! Working with other youth organisations helps us do that. And being able to offer them potential funds to do new work is just brilliant."
