Volunteer at Independent People
Independent People supports 16 to 25 year olds who have faced or are facing homelessness in the South West. We house and support young people to build independent lives.
All our Volunteers are looked after as part of the VIP scheme. Our aim is to make sure everyone gets something out of your volunteering experience; you, us and the people we support. Because we think we’re all VIPs.
The role:
This role will be home-based, with the option to meet in the office if useful.
We have a lot of important information which needs to reach the young people we work with; and want to make this as user-friendly and young-person centred as possible. We are looking for someone who can put the young people at the heart of creating the digital content required for them to access this information.
You will support us to apply a consistent look and feel to our digital content. We are keen to learn from a volunteer in creating digital resources and offer support in order to develop skills in their area of interest. You will work with the Participation and Learning team and have support of the Communications team.
Key skills:

Experience designing e-posters, e-adverts, e-events.

Experience in creating digital versions of learning resources or information handbooks etc.

Experience of using Canva, Adobe, Indesign or similar

Skills for listening to, and involving the ideas of young people

Ability to communicate ideas clearly

Interest in making young people’s voices heard in the 3rd sector.

Capacity to offer one day a week - either in 1 day or spread out throughout the week

Travel expenses (inc. mileage where needed), lunch if volunteering for a full day, free tea/coffees at offices etc… (however this will mainly be done from your home)
