About the role


We ask for one half day or full day per week, Monday-Friday. 

The role:

Administrator / Receptionist volunteers provide a comprehensive reception service, being the first point of contact within the charity for all telephone and personal callers. Volunteers make all our young people and visitors feel welcome from the second they walk through the door.

Main duties include:
  • Meeting, greeting and directing visitors.
  • Ensuring phone / office messages are taken accurately.
  • Promptly forwarding messages on to the appropriate staff.
  • Dealing with incoming / outgoing post.
  • Overseeing and ordering stationary and other stock supplies.
  • Ensuring resources and forms are adequately maintained.
  • Ensuring refreshments for staff and visitors are available.
  • Carrying out Health & Safety checks.
  • Distributing keys to team members.
  • Filing, scanning and photocopying.
  • Arranging confidential waste collections.
  • Maintaining confidential records.
Reception roles are based at our head office - Kingsley Hall, 59 Old Market Street, Bristol, BS2 0ER – and the team operates 9am-1pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and 1pm – 5pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays.
We are looking for volunteers who can commit a minimum of four hours (one AM or PM slot) per week.

Key skills:

  • Good people skills and telephone skills.
  • Sensitive and patient.
  • Open and non-judgemental.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Willing and able to attend training.
  • Basic knowledge of computers/ Microsoft Office would be a benefit.
