Following a brief career in the RAF, and various other jobs out of this sector, I decided to volunteer working with young people in a residential setting in Scotland. During my time volunteering I gained invaluable experience in directly supporting young people via Community Service Volunteers. I worked with Youth Offending Teams, Social Services Assessment teams & a spell as a telephone counsellor with Sane Line. I moved on to work with the Leaving Care Team in Brynmawr South Wales, before joining East Bristol Youth Housing (EBYHA) as a Floating Support Worker in 2003, progressing to Team Leader in 2005. EBYHA became Wayahead, where I was Housing Services Manager from 2006 to the merger in 2009. I was responsible for the housing and support services delivered across the city, including a specialist BME support service in 2005. I also played a fundamental part in securing funds and setting up the initial Inside Out project.
I am now very proud to be the Operations Director of the Bristol Supported Housing and Maintenance services, which deliver housing and support to over 200 young people across the city.
Working closely with other partnering housing associations, Bristol City Council, Children & Young Peoples Services to make sure we continue to improve young people services in Bristol. Back to Meet the staff
