100 pounds in four hours...

ASDA fundraising day Three residents of St George’s House emergency hostel have gone out of their way to raise money for their fellow residents.
They came up with the idea at a Men's Group session at the hostel and did all the preparation and contacted ASDA themselves.

Carrying collection tins, leaflets and smiles and accompanied by a member of staff set out for ASDA in Cribbs Causeway.

Their aim was to raise some money and spread awareness about the issues faced by young homeless people and help to dispel “hoodie style” stereotypes about homeless young people.

The money raised will be used to give the residents at St George's House a chance to take part in activities they would not be able to afford in their current situation. Positive physical activities such as climbing, canoeing, and bowling can help build confidence, social skills and alleviate some of the stress of being homeless.

ASDA Fundraising day Comments from the young men:
"I was a bit nervous at first, but really got into it. The public seemed
interested”
“I have participated in an idea that I was involved in planning from the start. I helped make it happen”
“I used some previous skills from when I worked at car boot sales, and I remembered how to approach the public and be polite”

ASDA Fundraising Day They raised over £100 in four hours and ASDA representatives said they were delighted to have been able to help.
