All the fun of fair...

Now the Summer seems to be waning (sort of!) the outdoor festivals are winding down and we're packing away our outdoor stall. It's been a great summer for getting out there and talking to people.

We had information stalls at the Harbourside Festival, the Balloon Fiesta and (our favourite) Brisfest.

We sold T-shirts designed by young people we support, greeting cards made by staff, artwork donated by artists in the community.

We estimate we spoke to about 3000 people - face to face - about what we do, issues around homelessness and how they can help.

Crowd pullers

All credit to Tom, our Youth involvement worker who came up with the idea of getting people to balance a coin on a lemon to win one of our T-shirts. It's not easy but a few people managed it! It caused a real stir and brought people flocking to the stall so we could talk to them. We gave away a few T-shirts - but what would you pay to have people walking around in a T-shirt with your logo on it? We raised a couple of thousand pounds too.

At the Harbourside and Balloon Fiesta we had the added attraction of a Luxury cruise Competition. Kindly donated by Cruise Amour cruise specialists - it really helped pulled in the people. We have two very lucky winners  - both from Bristol. Read about the Cruise winners in a separate article

Shock and awe

We were shocked at how many people were unaware there are still young homeless people who need our services. And they were genuinely shocked. So now everyone is shocked, what next?

Many of the people we spoke to were very impressed by what we do and signed up to our Quarterly Newsletter, some offered to volunteer through our VIP scheme and some will donate regularly by standing order (Standing Order Form).

All in all it was a great festival season and it's all down to our amazing volunteers who helped run the stall in shifts  - wind, sun or rain! Armed with the mantra "No-one leaves this stall without knowing who we are and what what we do"
You were all fantastic and we couldn't have done it otherwise.
