About Future 4 Me

Future 4 Me  supports children and young people leaving care and custody. They are at the highest risk of homelessness and social exclusion. Since 2012 the project has helped 365 young people to make the transition from “looked after” to independent. The project’s unique approach provides intensive one-to-one support around housing, mentoring, independent living skills, counselling, education, training and employment opportunities – helping them to reboot their lives. The young people supported have learned to survive at a very young age and often lack a stable family network. The project “walks with them” through their transitions into adulthood.

A team of six experienced youth workers provide each young person with a dedicated trusted adult – someone who is “there” for them.

Future 4 Me is a four year project funded by £1 million of National Lottery’s BIG Lottery Fund.  It works closely in partnership with Local Authorities in Bristol, N.Somerset, BANES and S. Gloucestershire, Creative Youth Network, Prince’s Trust, Breakthrough Mentoring, Youth Education Service, Empire Fighting Chance and Learning Partnership West as well other strategic partners.

Skills for Care, the national body responsible for raising standards in care work, highlighted Future 4 Me as a great example of how ‘psychologically informed’ approaches can improve young people’s wellbeing.

Jamie Gill, 1625ip Partnership Director said...

“We are delighted to have made it through to the finals of the National Lottery Awards.  It is wonderful recognition, not just for Future 4 Me’s youth work, but for the often unsung achievements of the young people themselves. This award would also help us to secure future funding so we can continue to improve care leaver’s lives. We hope that people all over the West will vote for us to be crowned the UK’s Best Voluntary/Charity project.”
