We tried it... did you?

Thursday 24 March 2011

On Tuesday 15th March we took over the Trinity Arts Centre in Bristol to give young people a chance to Try It.

The idea behind "Try It" was to give young people who are not in employment, education or training (NEET), the chance to find something they might like to do. We tried to make sure all the stands at the event had something interactive about them - whether it was booking an appointment, trying something new or just watching someone else's skill. About 85 young people attended between 2-6pm to visit the 30 organisations who had stalls and demonstrations. Thanks Thank you to all the stallholders and staff who made the afternoon so successful. Here's what some people said... Thank you for inviting us along to your “Try it” event on Tuesday. We really enjoyed meeting up with the team. I would just like to add that I thought the way it was organized was wonderful, it was nice to see young people having a go at the activities and having fun. One single mum I bought down to the event appreciated the crèche. She also found the stalls very useful and has signed up with the Teenage Parents Project. I thought it was brilliant. So well organised. Lots of organisations all working towards the same goal of helping young people. Fab to meet up with them and I found it so very useful for me to have a directory of lots of other options I can give to people if we do not suit. I had about 10 people at once all engaged in the activity. Talking to the youth about their next steps, what they wanted to do, the opprtunities that they had discovered from the event. That was really positive. More Information If you'd like more information about the event or the work we do please contact us on 0117 317 8800 or use the form on our Contact Us page.
