Howard has been working with homeless young people since 2001. He was responsible for all housing and support services delivered in Bristol by Priority Youth Housing between 2003 and 2009, before being appointed as Operations Director for Independent People covering support services in Bristol and South Gloucesterhire, including Housing projects in Filton and St George’s House.
Howard’s current role includes operational delivery of support and housing services to over 180 young people in both areas. Within this remit he works to continually improve, identify and develop new services based on the needs of young people in these areas. Howard works with other providers including Bristol City Council and has helped develop the Housing Support Register, Supported Lodgings Schemes, Crashpads, 16+ Panel amongst other initiatives. He is also an executive member of locality committee in South Bristol. Previously he has worked in the private sector, as a civil servant with the DWP, and as an emergency accommodation support worker and manager with another housing association.
